Apple removed “Fortnite” from the App Store on August 13

A federal judge has denied Epic Games’ request to reinstate “Fortnite” on the App Store. Despite that decision, the gaming producer has already launched a lawsuit against the tech company.

At the heart of the dispute is Apple’s claim that it deserves its 30% cut of revenue from “Fortnite”. According to the US District Court Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers, Epic Games could not explain its rush to reintroduce the battle royale game onto the platform.

On August 13, Apple pulled “Fortnite” from its online mobile app marketplace following an update that bypassed revenue sharing with the tech company. The next chapter of this dispute will take place in 2021 when the official trial starts.
