“Super Mario 64” has set a new world record

During an auction, a “Super Mario 64” cartridge has been sold for over $1.56 million, thus setting a new world record.

This is the first time that a video game cartridge has been sold for more than $1 million. Furthermore, this rare copy of “Super Mario 64” has been sold only two days after the sale of a sealed copy of “The Legend of Zelda” for Nintendo NES. Both sales were handled by a Dallas-based auction house called Heritage Auctions.

This keen interest in retro video games has become increasingly popular among nostalgic collectors. Over the past 12 months, there have been record sales for Pokémon cards and digital collectibles.
